uncanny lamps
June 7, 2009

london based designer gitta gschwendtner brings traditional pleated silk lampshades to life. originally designed
for an exhibition called ‘the uncanny room’ in the stately home pitshanger manor, ‘the uncanny lamps’ make
the lights appear to be strangely alive. the four lamps in the series crawl up walls, hug table legs and squeeze
into corners much like a small creature would. however while the lights have a fluidity of a living creature
they are frozen in time giving them a strange perceived plasticity.
