belgian company . MGX by materialise is known for their innovation in the field
of additive layered fabrication (ALF), through its new design label:.MGX by materialise,
they continue to explore new possiblities in 3d printing techniques, including
the advanced technologies of stereolithography, selective laser sintering
and fused deposition modelling.
the '.MGX e - volution collection' exhibition held at moss design store new york,
opened during new york design week and will be on display until june 27, 2009.
the show features the brands most iconic pieces of 'ALF' an all digital technique,
where by material is transformed from one state to another (liquid to solid or welding
of material particles by laser beam). included works are by luc merx, patrick jouin,
hani rashid, bathesheba grossman, jiri evenhuis, strand & hvass, lars spuybroek,
assa aashuach, peter jansen, platform studio and matthias bar, arik levy, amanda levete

'fugu', 'ubu', 'roi' vases by hani rashid
body made from epoxy resin
insert made with chromed nylon
the threes vases appearing as tornadoes and whirlpools in constant motion, are
representative of asymptote's radical architecture practise. with swirling, perforated
surfaces the vases are built with stereolithography and selective laser sintering.

'fractal table' by gernot oberfell & jan wertel in collaboration with matthias bar
made with epoxy resin built with sterolithography, hollow structure filled with polyurethane
the fractal table is based on growth patterns seen in nature, which can be described
with mathematical algorithms.

'one shot stool' by patrick jouin

'sequence bowl' by one & co
the sequence bowl combines a rigid construction with a loose construction. the bowl
juxtaposes traditional moulded aesthetics (solid walll construction) with the intricacies
of three dimensional printing.
