What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home? The open, light feel of the living area gives the sense of being connected to the life of the apartment and provides a wonderful flow for entertaining.

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced in furnishing your small home? We wanted to create a happy home with a clean look. We used a lot of color to make it happy. With the open space, all the color elements had to work and flow together. We found a company that helped us design a custom area rug that incorporated all the colors and placed it in the living room, thereby tying together all the colors in the space. To create a clean, airy effect and the illusion of a larger space, we chose furnishings that did not come to the floor (ie, a wall-mounted entertainment unit, sofa & chairs with legs and air under them) and 5 inch wood flooring for a long, wide effect. The best resources were the experts in the various furnishing stores, and making sure we carried all our samples around at all times!
